Rencontre avec Physical Fiction, nominé pour Lego Letterpress dans la catégorie Graphism (interview en anglais)
- Hello, can you introduce yourself ?
We are Sam Cox and Justin LaRosa and are each exactly half of Physical Fiction.
- Can you tell us more about your creations ? Can you explain us the aim of your art ?
LEGO, pixel art, and letterpress printing are a few of our favorite things and we were delighted to discover that these modular systems could themselves be combined into one process! Beginning with a digital pixelated design, each color separation is “typeset” using smooth LEGO bricks, then inked, and then printed. Pixel art, LEGO, and letterpress printing all embody a process of precision, patience, and control allowing the designer to manipulate tiny units to create coherent wholes. This is how we like to work.

- What are you different projects and plans for 2012 ?
While keeping the ball rolling on letterpress printing, we’ve also begun to take on editorial illustration projects. It’s a pleasure to work with magazines that have remained a constant source of inspiration for us through the years. Justin recently acquired a new press, so we plan to experiment with larger sizes in future runs.
- What can we wish you for 2012 ?
Convince LEGO to make us custom tiles. That be tops.
